OVERNIGHT ENERGY: European climate chief to begin meetings in DC
COMING THURSDAY: The European Union’s top climate change official will begin meetings in Washington, D.C., at a time when the White House is pledging more aggressive actions on global warming.

European Commissioner for Climate Action Connie Hedegaard is meeting Thursday with Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) and Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), who recently launched a bicameral climate task force, among other items on the itinerary.
Shell bets on gas to limit climate change until 22nd century
LONDON, Feb 28 (Reuters) - Royal Dutch/Shell believes a policy-led shift to gas, carbon capture and nuclear power could keep a lid on climate change into the 22nd century while a more free market approach would result in carbon emissions some 25 percent higher.
